With a pair of scores in the 40s, and the top four at 52 or below, the Monticello High School girls golf team pulled out an eight-stroke victory over neighboring rival Anamosa Monday, April 15 at the Monticello Golf Club.

The Panthers overcame a score of 37 from Anamosa’s Kara Hunt, who was meet medalist, to score the win.

“I was really pleased with our result in this meet,” Monticello coach Joe Steen said. “I thought Anamosa would be very tough. Their number one golfer shot a 37, so the fact that we were able to be consistent with our scores certainly helped.”

Marissa McNally and Beka Prull each shot 46 to lead the Panthers, while Lydia Franzenburg had a 50 and Dru Kramer added a 52.

“The girls were able to golf well and gather us a win,” Steen said. “We will need to continue that moving forward.”
