During the May 2 Monticello City Council meeting, the council approved a couple of items related to the Seventh Street and E. Oak Street projects as the DOT prepares to come through for the Highway 38 overlay project.

The fifth change order submitted by the contractor, Pirc-Tobin Construction, Inc., was approved. This was a net deduction from the total watermain project cost on E. Oak Street of $7,391. This brings the total project cost from $478,974.20 down to $471,583.20.

This change order included modifications for placement of the watermain using the trenchless method for a portion of the work.

“They (Pirc-Tobin) opted to drill and bore versus opening a trench and digging,” explained City Administrator Russ Farnum.

The council also approved Pirc-Tobin’s second pay request for work on the Seventh Street Utility Improvement Project in the amount of $219,784.65.
