• Derrick Gene Dawdy, 41, of Anamosa, was arrested Oct. 4 on a charge of driving while barred.
Court documents state a Jones County Sheriff’s Office sergeant took a report of a collision that had happened earlier in the day in Anamosa. The sergeant gathered Dawdy’s information for the collision report, and Dawdy, whose license is barred, admitted to driving his motorcycle, documents state.
• Alan Franklin Billmeyer, 54, of Dubuque, was arrested Oct. 12 on charges of driving while barred and possession of a controlled substance.
Court documents state a deputy responded to a disturbance call in the 2600 block of County Road D61 on Oct. 12 and found Billmeyer there inside a ford truck. A witness stated Billmeyer drove the truck to the property to conduct repairs on the vehicle, which he had done without permission, according to court documents. While searching the truck, officials located a baggie containing methamphetamine, documents state. Billmeyer also admitted to driving another vehicle, documents state.
• Dustin Owen Norton, 37, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested Oct. 9 on a charge of fifth-degree theft.
Court documents state Norton stole a $7.99 phone charger and a $13.98 bottle of Mucinex from Dollar Fresh in Monticello.
• Curtis Dean Laver, 60, of Anamosa was arrested Oct. 10 on a charge of interference with official acts.
Court documents state law enforcement was dispatched to a residence in the 14000 block of Buffalo Road for a report of a disturbance involving a firearm. The firearm was secured by one of Laver’s family members prior to deputies’ arrival. When talking with a county deputy, Laver became agitated, court documents state, and he tried to push past a deputy to go into a different room where his family members were.
“Curtis was asked multiple times to stop the behavior,” the deputy wrote in court documents. “Curtis placed his finger in my face and continued yelling,” resulting in his arrest, the deputy said.
The next day, Laver pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $250 plus court costs.
• Naome Anetta Wells, 31, of Anamosa, was arrested Oct. 11 on a charge of interference with official acts.
Court documents state an Anamosa officer observed a Toyota Tacoma with no license plate pulling a trailer with no license plate near Bard Materials on Highway 64. The officer pulled the vehicle over and spoke with the driver and Wells, who was the passenger. Wells told the officer her name was “Taome Wells,” court documents state, and said she did not have a valid driver’s license. A records search with the driver's information revealed a no-contact order existed between the driver and a person named “Naome Wells.” The officer then positively identified the passenger as Naome Wells using a photo from the National Crime Information Center database, documents state.
• Adam John Folken, 40, of Springville, pleaded guilty to a charge of carrying weapons while operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and was granted a deferred judgement.
Folken was placed on one year of probation and fines $430 plus court costs.
Folken also pleaded guilty to OWI first offense and was sentenced to 32 days in jail, with all but two days suspended. Folken was also placed on one year of probation for the OWI charge and was fined $1,250 plus court costs.
• Travis Maynard Sumner, 42, of Hiawatha, was arrested Oct. 8 on a charge of driving with a revoked or denied license.
Court documents state Sumner was pulled over for driving 87 mph in a 65 mph zone on U.S. 151 near Shaw Road in Anamosa. Sumner was found to have a revoked license and was also not driving with an ignition interlock device on his vehicle despite a court order to do so, documents state. Sumner said he was driving his son’s vehicle, but a check of the vehicle’s plates revealed it’s the vehicle’s Illinois registration was suspended for an insurance violation.
Sumner was released from custody on a promise to appear and was also cited for speeding and operation without registration, documents state.
Terrance Claire Brownell, 43, of Wyoming, pleaded guilty to a charge of OWI first offense and was granted a deferred judgement. Brownell was also sentenced to one year of probation and fined $625 plus court costs.
• Timothy Jerome Koopman, 57, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested Oct. 11 on a charge of OWI first offense.
Court documents state a Jones County deputy was on patrol and clocked Koopman driving 76 mph in a 65 mph zone on U.S. 151 near Richland Road. The deputy noticed the vehicle crossed the fog line several times, documents state.
The deputy spoked to the occupants and noted the smell of alcohol emanating from the vehicle and said “both occupants seemed to stagger and slur their words,” according to court documents.
Koopman exited the vehicle and admitted to drinking 3-4 Coors Lights, documents state. A field sobriety test revealed clues of intoxication, documents state, and a preliminary breath test showed Koopman’s blood alcohol content was above the legal limit of .08%, documents state.
