• Bradley James Melichar, 56, of Anamosa, was arrested Nov. 3 on a charge of domestic abuse assault-second offense, public intoxication and interference with official acts.

Charging documents state Anamosa officers were dispatched to a home on East Liberty Street in Anamosa for a physical fight taking place. Investigators determined Melichar assaulted the victim and caused bodily injuries, court documents state. During processing in the Jones County Jail, Melichar refused to identify himself when prompted, documents state. 

 

• Robert Michael Taylor, 61, of Hopkinton, was arrested Nov. 5 on a charge of possession of a controlled substance-second offense. 

Court documents state a vehicle driven by Taylor was driving erratically within Monticello. An officer contacted Taylor in the parking lot of a convenience store and noted the smell of marijuana coming from his vehicle, documents state. Taylor provided the officer with a “green plant material that had the odor and consistency of marijuana,” documents state. 

 

• David Wayne Mccrea, 66, of Olin, was arrested Nov. 6 on a charge of driving while barred. 

Court documents state an Anamosa officer conducted a record check on the license plate of a 1988 Cadillac Eldorado and discovered the registered owner had a barred license. Upon pulling the vehicle over, the officer spoke with Mccrea, who said he was aware of his license’s status, documents state. 

 

• Dillon Lee Graf, 31, of Monticello, was arrested Nov. 11 on a charge of third-degree theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Court documents state Graf wore a disguise to a Monticello bank and used a stolen card to withdraw $823.96 and then used the money to make purchases. Officers executed a search warrant and found the mask he used in the disguise, documents state, and Graf told officers where they could find the items he’d purchased as well as the stolen card. During the search, investigators also found “numerous” hypodermic needles, some of which contained blood, documents state.

 

• Skyler James Chaisson, 20, of Marion, pleaded guilty to charges of domestic abuse assault strangulation causing injury, domestic abuse assault, extortion-sexually motivated and child endangerment-sexually motivated and was granted a deferred judgement for all counts. 

Chaisson was placed on three years of supervised probation for three of the counts and two years for the other. He is also obligated to register as a sex offender, court documents state, and was fined a total of $3,335 plus court costs, a victim surcharge of $90 and a civil penalty of $260.

Charges of third-degree sexual abuse, second-degree kidnapping and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse were dismissed as part of the plea agreement. 

 

• Jerit David Clark, 31, of Maquoketa, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon. 

Clark was sentenced to two years in jail, which were suspended. He was also placed on two years of supervised probation and was fined $855 plus court costs. 

A charge of assault committed by a person against whom a protective order is issued was dismissed as part of the plea agreement, as were unrelated charges of obstruction of emergency communications and violation of a no-contact order.

 

• Jake Anthony Davidson, 35, of Marion, pleaded guilty to violation of a no-contact order. 

Davidson was sentenced to seven days in jail and was ordered to pay court costs. 

 

• James Michael Keys, 35, of Martelle, was arrested Nov. 7 on a charge of domestic abuse assault-first offense. 

Court documents state the victim said Keys was intoxicated and struck her “multiple times with his fist.” The victim got into a vehicle and tried to drive away, and Keys kicked and broke the window, documents state. He then entered the vehicle and assaulted her again, documents state. Keys admitted to authorities that an altercation took place and alleged that the victim assaulted him first, charging documents state. 

 

• Moraima Romero Gomez-Moritz, 47, of Anamosa, pleaded guilty to a charge of animal neglect with injury and animal neglect no injury. 

Gomez-Moritz was fined $535 plus court costs. A second charge of animal neglect no injury was dismissed as part of the plea agreement. 

 

• Timothy Jerome Koopmann, 58, of Cedar Rapids, pleaded guilty to a charge of OWI first offense. 

Koopmann was granted a deferred judgement and was placed on probation for one year. He was also fined $625 plus court costs.
