• Cein Michael Lee Palecki, 22, of Olin, pleaded guilty to driving while barred. 

Palecki was sentenced to four days in jail and given credit for four days served. Palecki was also fined $855 plus court costs.

 

• Alexander Lee Koontz, 29, of Delmar, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance, third offense. 

Koontz received a five-year jail sentence and was fined $1,025 plus court costs. 

A charge of driving while barred was dismissed as part of the plea agreement. A charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was also dismissed. 

 

• Christian Alan Hawkins, 31, of West Plains, Mo., was arrested Nov. 24 on a charge of public intoxication. 

Court documents state an Anamosa officer was dispatched to the 400 block of East Cedar Street for a report of an intoxicated Hawkins, who had caused a disturbance at a residence before leaving. Officers found Hawkins soon thereafter and noticed he showed signs of intoxication, including red, watery eyes and unsteady balance, charging documents state. Hawkins refused to provide a breath test, documents state.
Hawkins subsequently pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $105 plus court costs. He also pleaded guilty to an unrelated charge of fifth-degree mischief and was fined $105 plus court costs. 

 

• Joshua David Klaren, 27, no permanent address, was arrested Nov. 30 at 9:18 a.m. in the 500 block of West Main Street in Anamosa on a charge of violation of a no-contact order. 

Court documents state Klaren contacted a protected party via telephone on multiple occasions. 

 

• Cody Joseph Heiser, 30, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested Nov. 25 at 5:06 p.m. on a charge of OWI first offense. 

Court documents state a motorist reported a vehicle had overturned on Lead Mine Road south of Anamosa. A Jones County deputy arrived to find Heiser on scene exhibiting signs of intoxication, including an unsteady balance and bloodshot, watery eyes documents state. Heiser told deputies he wasn’t the driver and blamed his brother, though a witness said Heiser was the only person on scene. A search for another driver produced no one, documents state.
