      David Countryman, age 86, died Sunday, June 5, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness.

    A celebration of David's life will be held on Saturday, June 25 from 1 until 4 p.m. at the Anamosa American Legion. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello at a later date.     He is survived by his seven children, Peggy (Brad) Payne, Phyllis Camp, and Darrin Countryman, D.J. (Markie) Camp, all of Monticello, Patty (Mike) Griffin of  Two Rivers, Ark., Dennis (Kay) Countryman of Anamosa, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, his siblings Dorothy, John and Roger. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hazel in 2021, his son David Countryman and siblings, LeRoy, Louise, Floyd, Jacob, Jerry and Rossetta.

    David Alfred Countryman was born Oct. 2, 1935 in Dallas County, Iowa. He was the son of John H. and Alice Rausch, Countryman. David was employed by Younkers and Meadow Gold Dairy in Des Moines. He later worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, and Sacred Heart School and Church in Monticello. In retirement he worked at Walmart, Fareway and Caseys. David married Hazel Denniston on July 21, 1984 in West Des Moines.
