Day of the Dead

The Monticello High School Spanish class celebrated Day of the Dead on Friday, Oct. 30. The Mexican culture celebrates the occasion to honor family members who have passed away. Nov. 1 is reserved for honoring children; Nov. 2 is for honoring adults. Typically Day of the Dead is spent visiting gravesites, making ofrendas (memorial display), and celebrating the lives of people who are no longer with them. Celebrating the occasion were, front from left, Sydney Freese, Allison Barnhart, Reese Cox, and Maci Welter. Back row, Katie Sauser, Megan Mahoney, Spanish teacher Mike Meshak, Olivia Besler, and Drucilla Kramer. (Photo by Pete Temple)
