Democrats support lowering of prescription drug costs

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor,

I am retired and am on Medicare, as well as private health insurance. There have been some recent years when the out-of-pocket prescription drug expenses my husband and I have incurred exceeded several thousands of dollars. It had seemed that was going to continue year after year going forward.

However, the Democrat-sponsored and supported (with minimal to no Republican cooperation) Inflation Reduction Act is providing relief for us as well as all Medicare enrollees in at least two important ways: Out-of-pocket expenses for Medicare D-covered will be capped at $2,000 annually beginning in 2025; and starting in 2023 all vaccines covered under Medicare Part D will be free to beneficiaries AND the cost of insulin will be capped at $35 per month!

I urge all Medicare enrollees to support Democrat candidates at the polls! I also urge all voters to support Democrat candidates because a key part of their legislative plan is to continue to rein in prescription drug prices for EVERYONE. My vote will include Tony Amsler, Christina Bohannan, and Mike Franken for legislative offices; incidentally, their opponents have not supported prescription reform including capping insulin for everyone at $35 per month!

Remember to vote Nov. 8, 2022.
