Demolition

A late night fire on March 18 destroyed this home located at 224 N. Chestnut St. in Monticello, owned at the time by Al Hughes. In June, the Monticello City Council approved the purchase of the home and lot, with the intent to accept proposals for the lot. Last week, B&J Hauling & Excavating was on site to demolish the home. The garage will remain until early September to allow Hughes to take any possessions out he wishes to salvage. (Photos by Kim Brooks)
