District Court

Dalton James Freeman, Cascade, pleaded guilty to the lesser offense of assault. He was fined $65 plus court costs, and sentenced to two days in jail. 

Canaan John Kruse, Morley, was charged with 3rd degree criminal mischief. An arraignment is set for May 20. 

Paris Dewayane Moore, Olin, pleaded guilty to animal abuse and domestic abuse assault-enhanced. She was fined a total of $940 plus court costs. The fines were suspended. Moore was sentenced to a total of two years in prison, with all but 30 days suspended. She was placed on supervised probation for three years. 

Cassaundra Jo Merta, Cedar Rapids, pleaded not guilty to possession of methamphetamine 2nd offense. A jury trial is set for Aug. 13. 

Evan James Shelton, Marion, was charged with 3rd degree theft. An arraignment is set for May 20. 

Beau James Ludley, Anamosa, pleaded not guilty to driving while barred. A jury trial is set for July 16. He also pleaded not guilty to an additional charge of driving while barred and eluding. A jury trial is set for Aug. 6. 

Damion Paul Liebel, Anamosa, was charged with operating motor vehicle without owner’s consent. An arraignment is set for May 20. 

Derrick Scott Maschmann, Stanwood, was charged with operating motor vehicle while license barred. An arraignment is set for May 20. 

Allen Douglas Osterkamp, Cedar Rapids, was charged with possession of methamphetamine 2nd offense. A preliminary hearing is set for May 17. 

Clayton Eugene Shady, Maquoketa, was charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding flow of air/blood. A preliminary hearing is set for May 20. 

David Allen Murray II, Center Junction, was arrested for 3rd degree theft. No court date was set. 

Jean Genaro Capetillo, Anamosa, pleaded guilty to forgery. She was fined $750 plus court costs, and sentenced to five years in prison. Both the fine and sentence were suspended, and she was placed on probation for three years. Capetillo also pleaded guilty to the lesser offense of 4th degree criminal mischief. She was fined $315 plus court costs, and sentenced to 40 days in jail. 

Timothy Paul Foster, Anamosa, was charged with possession of marijuana 1st offense. A preliminary hearing is set for May 24. 

Dalton Charles Hughes, Monticello, was charged with two counts of assault on persons in certain occupations. A preliminary hearing is set for May 17. 

Michael Andrew Visnapuu, Epworth, pleaded guilty to the lesser offense of disorderly conduct-fighting or trespassing. He was fined $65 plus court costs, and sentenced to 30 days in jail. Both were suspended, and he was placed on unsupervised probation for one year. 

Calvin Theodore Clark, Onslow, pleaded guilty to the lesser offense of 5th degree theft. He was sentenced to one day in jail, and ordered to pay victim restitution. 

Samantha Ann Peck, Anamosa, pleaded guilty to assault on persons engaged in certain occupations. She was fined $315 plus court costs, and sentenced to one year in jail. All but 16 days were suspended, and Peck was placed on self-supervised probation for one year. 

Timothy Scott Kruger, Jr., Cedar Rapids, pleaded guilty to OWI 1st offense. He was fined $1,250 plus court costs, and sentenced to two days in jail. 

Valerie Leeann Keppel, Cedar Rapids, pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana. Judgment was deferred, and she was placed on self-supervised probation for one year. Keppel was ordered to pay a civil penalty of $315 plus court costs. 

Brandon Michael Galloway, Monticello, pleaded guilty to OWI 1st offense. He was fined $1,250 plus court costs, and sentenced to two days in jail. 

Larry James Scofield, Anamosa, was charged with OWI 3rd offense and driving while license denied/ revoked. An arraignment is set for May 20. 

Katie Sue Hopfensperger, Monticello, pleaded not guilty to OWI 1st offense. A jury trial is set for July 16. 

Jerome A. Mueller, La Crosse, Wis., was charged with OWI 1st offense. An arraignment is set for May 20. 

Thomas Christian Swain, Anamosa, was charged with OWI 1st offense. An arraignment is set for May 28.
