District Court

     Chad Daniel Cozart, Cedar Rapids, pleaded guilty to carrying weapons, possession of marijuana 1st offense, and two counts of operating a motor vehicle while license is barred. Judgment was deferred, and Cozart was placed on self-supervised probation for two years. He was ordered to pay a civil penalty of $2,190 plus court costs.

     Christopher Warren Riches, Anamosa, was charged with driving while barred. A preliminary hearing is set for July 8.

     Chris J. Phelps, Cedar Rapids, was charged with public intoxication. A bench trial is set for Aug. 26.

     Michelle Lynn Frantz, Anamosa, was cited for driving while barred. A court date is set for Aug. 12.

     Rebekah Lynne McWherter, Cedar Rapids, pleaded guilty to 3rd degree burglary. She was sentenced to five years in prison, to run concurrently with three sentences in Linn County. Her sentence was suspended, and she was placed on supervised probation for three years. She was also fined $750 plus court costs. The fine was suspended.

     Zachary T. Stivers, Cedar Rapids, pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana 1st offense. He was sentenced to two days in jail, and fined $400 plus court costs.

     Michael James Roster, Vinton, pleaded guilty to assault. He was fined $65 plus court costs.

     Kody B. Aldrich, Monticello, pleaded not guilty to domestic abuse assault-injury/mental illness 1st offense. A jury trial is set for Nov. 3.

     Tanner Clayton Hayzlett, Olin, pleaded not guilty to assault causing bodily injury/mental illness. A jury trial is set for Nov. 3.

     Antoine Smith, Chicago, Ill., was charged with domestic abuse assault causing injury. A preliminary hearing is set for July 20.

     Jamie Ohowell, Wyoming, was charged with domestic abuse assault causing injury. A preliminary hearing is set for July 20.

     Derik John Thomas, Anamosa, pleaded guilty to OWI 3rd offense. He was sentenced to five years in prison, and fined $3,125 plus court costs. All but 30 days were suspended, to be served in the Jones County Jail. Thomas was also placed on supervised probation for three years.

     Tylor Dean Boheman, Monticello, pleaded guilty to OWI 1st offense. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, and fined $1,250 plus court costs. All but two days were suspended, and Boheman was placed on self-supervised probation for one year.

     Charles Edward Strickland, Central City, pleaded not guilty to OWI 2nd offense, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) 2nd offense, possession of marijuana 1st offense, and eluding. A jury trial is set for Nov. 3.

     Kyle Harlin Fry, Edgewood, pleaded not guilty to OWI 1st offense and possession of marijuana 1st offense. A jury trial is set for Nov. 3.

     Robert Austin Knake, Delhi, was charged with OWI 3rd offense and eluding. A preliminary hearing is set for July 8.
