Dr. Wolken honored with IDA’s President’s Award

     Dr. Dick Wolken of Monticello was presented with the Iowa Dental Association’s President’s Award for his service to the Iowa Dental Association and the profession of dentistry. The award was presented at a special ceremony during the association’s Annual Session in Cedar Rapids.

     When the selection was made earlier this year, Dr. Tom Peek, immediate past president of the Iowa Dental Association, said, “I am proud to present Dick with this award. He has served dentistry and has served others in a way very few of us do.”

     Dr. Wolken was born, and raised, and practices in Monticello, Iowa. He also has an office in Marion, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Iowa Dental College with the class of 1976.

     Over his 40 years in dentistry, he feels pride in helping people of all income levels. He is a member of the IDA, ADA, and is a legislative contact for the IDA.

     Improving skills for the latest in dentistry are very important to Dr. Wolken. Also important to Dr. Wolken is community involvement. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, Great Jones County Fair, township trustee, and Linn County Dental Society. Farming is also a passion of his. Dr. Wolken served with the Army National Guard for six years.

     He is married to LuAnn, and has four children: Michael, Mathew, Melissa, and Brian. He has five grandchildren.
