Cross country

The cross-country season is off and rolling now. We had two meets this last week, Tipton and Northeast.

The Tipton meet, held Sept. 6 was its typical warm and muggy race with competition from large and small schools. Milo Smith and Jayson Ruley ran the race fairly close together with Milo edging Jayson out with a time 22:26 and Jayson’s time of 22:30. Jay took time off from the Anamosa meet with a time of 28:49.

On Thursday night, the boys raced at Goose Lake for the Northeast meet. It was a small, but competitive meet. Milo finished 13th with a time of 21:33 and Jayson finished 15th with a time of 21:54. Jay took over a minute off for a time of 27:40.

I am pushing Milo, Jay and Jayson because I believe they have not tapped their potential yet. I am hoping with more consistency week to week, we will see the times drop even faster.
