Eagles secure first win of season

Boys basketball

     Midland got itself into the win column in its final boys basketball game before the holiday break.

     The Eagles (0-5 Tri-Rivers Conference, East Division; 1-9 overall) played host to East Buchanan on Dec. 22, and picked up their first win of the season, 36-30. Midland outscored the Buccaneers 17-12 in the fourth quarter to pull out the win.

     Carter Mohr led Midland with nine points and seven rebounds, and had four steals. Austin Smith had eight points and three assists. Iziek Soper came off the bench to score eight points and make eight steals. Carsen Rupp had four steals.

 

Girls basketball

     Midland was dealt a pair of losses prior to the holiday break in recent girls basketball action.

     Midland (4-2 Tri-Rivers Conference, East Division; 4-8 overall) played at North Linn Dec. 19, and lost 90-12. Callie Markmann scored four points, while Drew Jensen and Kirstin Schaefer had three apiece. Delanie Uppena had 10 rebounds.

     At home against East Buchanan Dec. 22, the Eagles lost 52-44. Mikayla Dosland came off the Midland bench to score 14 points, and Uppena added 11. Markmann had 12 rebounds, four assists and four steals. Jensen had six rebounds, seven assists and four steals.
