Eighth-graders rally to beat Camanche

Eighth-grade girls basketball

     Monticello played host to Camanche on Nov. 30, and pulled out a 21-20 victory as Kylee Van Dorn sank two free throws in the closing seconds. Lydia Recker led the team in scoring with 14 points. Kayla Simmons, Bronwyn Hodge and Van Dorn had two points apiece, and Piper Hansen had one. Monticello trailed 9-3 at halftime.

     The B team lost to Camanche 8-2. Allison Chappell scored the two Panther points.

 

Seventh-grade girls basketball

     Monticello played host to Bellevue Monday, Nov. 20, and lost a pair of games. Bellevue defeated Monticello Red 41-28, and Monticello White lost 20-10.

     The Monticello teams had a better outing at home against Camanche Nov. 30. The Red team won 36-14 to improve its record to 6-3. The White team played a 10-minute game, and tied 4-4. The White team has a record of 1-7-1.

 

Middle school wrestling

     Two meets occupied the Monticello Middle School wrestling teams last week. First, the Panthers traveled to Starmont on Nov. 28. Five Monticello wrestlers went undefeated for the night. Chandler Weber finished 3-0. Posting 2-0 records were Dylan Roher, Jordan Range and Ethan Long. Miles Hatchel was 1-0.

     Five Panthers had 2-0 marks in a Nov. 30 meet at Northeast of Goose Lake: Kale Hansen, Rylan Cooper, Mark Sunlin, Long and Weber.
