Eighth-graders top Beckman
Eighth-grade team
The Monticello eighth-grade girls basketball team scored one victory out of three recent games.
That came Dec. 12 at home against Dyersville Beckman. Kayla Arduser scored 13 points as the Panthers defeated the Trailblazers 31-14. Also scoring for Monticello were Larkyn Luensman with six, Kenya Davis-Robinson and Reagan Stoll with four apiece, Emerlynn Wright and Malin Phelps with two each.
Earlier, Monticello traveled to Anamosa for a Dec. 15 game, which the Panthers lost 34-33. Arduser had 12 points in that one, while Wright, Davis-Robinson and Stoll totaled seven apiece.
On Dec. 9, the Panthers lost a 40-20 home decision to Cascade despite 10 points from Arduser and seven from Davis-Robinson. Luensman added two points, and Phelps had one.
Seventh-grade team
Three games occupied the Monticello girls basketball team in recent action.
First, the Panthers played at Anamosa Dec. 5, and lost 18-8. Scoring two points each for Monticello were Julia Ries, Chloe Kienzle, Kendra Davis and Hannah Gobeli.
On Dec. 9 at home against Cascade, the Panthers lost a 12-9 decision. Gobeli had six points in that game, and Adley Rahe added three.
At home against Dyersville Beckman Dec. 12, Monticello fell 36-4. Rahe and Ries had two points apiece for the Panthers.
