Elizabeth "Betty" Schlimmer Dec. 1, 1920-Dec. 26, 2016

     Elizabeth “Betty” Schlimmer, 96, of Monticello, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2016 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center, Monticello, Iowa.

     Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017 at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello. A continued visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday prior to funeral services at church.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello, and Rev. Paul Baldwin will officiate. A burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery following her funeral services.

     Betty was born on Dec. 1, 1920, the daughter of Anton and Florence (Parrott) Wroblewski in Monticello. She married Donald Schlimmer on June 24, 1944 at Sacred Heart Church; together they raised three children: Jack, Jean, and Tom. Betty worked for Northwestern Bell and later Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids. She liked to do ceramics, crafts, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends, especially during the holidays.

     Survivors include her son Jack Schlimmer (Pat Poyer) of Lincoln, Neb., daughter-in-law Susan (Gerald) Beitz of Monticello; six grandchildren, Renee (Robert) Petr, Jackie (Dan) Fitzgerald both of Kenesaw, Neb., Christina (Kelly) Bush of Hopkinton, Angie (Eric) Farmer of Monticello, Josh Schlimmer (Cecelia Trenkamp) of Cedar Rapids, Eli Beitz of Monticello; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; two children, Jean Wilson and Tom Schlimmer; siblings, Helen (Les) Weis and Vincent Wroblewski.

     Betty’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Monticello Nursing and Rehab in Monticello and Above and Beyond Hospice for all they did to care for Betty.
