Fareway helps small businesses

     The Monticello Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC) is pleased to partner with Fareway Stores as they distribute 40 Fareway gift cards to businesses and organizations in the community. This is part of a $200,000 donation to help small businesses by the Boone-based grocery store chain.

     The gift cards were given to the Iowa Chamber of Commerce executives group to be distributed in the communities that Fareway serves. MACC Director Jan Hoag applied for the donation and received gift cards to distribute. Applications have been received from businesses and organizations and those selected will be contacted for delivery of the card to their business/organization.

     “In the wake of COVID-19, MACC, Inc. recognizes that the next several weeks will yield many unknowns, challenges and potential financial hardships for small businesses/organizations,” stated Hoag. “Therefore, we look for ways that we can provide assistance.”

     In addition, a generous donation has been made to the MACC, Inc. by a community member that will allow for the purchase of additional gift cards to be given away.

     Fareway also made donations to chamber of commerce in communities outside of Iowa.
