FFA attends Leadership Conference

   The Monticello FFA Chapter attended the 95th annual Iowa FFA Leadership Conference held in Ames, Iowa at Iowa State University on April 16-18th, where 10 members received their Iowa FFA Degrees, many participated in career development events, and received awards and recognition.

   Chesney Capron, Cooper Wickman, Kaden McAtee, Claire Hogan, Carter Martin, Landon Orcutt, Steven Bader, Kole Weber, John Welter, and Dawson Ricklefs received their Iowa FFA Degrees by  participating in more than five above the chapter level activities and earning/investing $1,500, or working 300 unpaid hours.

   The Ag Bio Tech Team consisting of Baylor Holub, Kendall Siebels, Claire Hogan and Tyler Soppe received a gold rating; while Brennan Bohlken, Will Wolken, Reed Brunscheen and Alex Prull received a gold rating in the Team Ag Sales Competition.

   Chesney Capron, Steven Bader, Dawson Ricklefs and Cooper Wickman were a part of the Farm Business Management Team. The team received a silver rating.

   Porter Campbell competed in the FFA creed speaking LDE, and received a silver rating.

   The team of Alyssa Wickman, Haili Schlarmann and Kinzi Schlarmann participated in Marketing Plan; while Ben Zirkelbach, Lily Moestchen, Kaden McAtee and Logan Moestchen were a part of the Poultry Team and received a silver rating.

   Royce Kiburz and Leah Koehler were selected and performed in the FFA State Band. They received a platinum rating.

   The Display Team of Reagan Schneiter and Grace Cooksley partnered with members from the Midland FFA Chapter to highlight the cooperative Ag Experience Day that they put on in September and received a gold rating.

   Macy Dusanek and Lilly Stoll competed in the Greenhand Quiz. They received a silver rating.

   Advisor Eric Schmitt received his Honorary Iowa FFA Degree.

   Members also participated in the Meals from the Heartland Meal Packing event and assisted the Iowa FFA Association in packaging over 240,000 meals in two days.
