FFA reaps awards at Leadership Conference

     The Monticello FFA Chapter attended the 94th annual Iowa FFA Leadership Conference held in Ames at Iowa State University April 10-12, where six members received their Iowa FFA Degrees, many participated in career development events, and received awards and recognition.

     Davin Wickman was named the 2022 Star in Agribusiness winner. He owns and operates Wickman Lawn Care. Davin was inspired at a young age by his family, who later encouraged him to build his business, growing his clientele from four to 23 properties.

     Davin Wickman, Lydia Recker, Grace Cooksley, Owen Thomas, Courtney Thies, and Reagan Schneiter received their Iowa FFA Degrees by  participating in more than five above the chapter level activities, and earning/investing $1,500, or working 300 unpaid hours.

     The Ag Bio Tech Team consists of Carter Martin, Baylor Holub and Keaton Hermsen. The team received a bronze rating.

     The Farm Business Management Team which consisted of Cooper Wickman, Dawson Ricklefs, Claire Hogan and Leah Kohler received a  silver rating.

     Adele Hogan also went to receive an individual award. Hogan was recognized for being the individual CDE Food Science Champion in 2021.

     The Market Plan Team received a silver rating. The team consisted of Alyssa Wickman, Kendra Jacobs and Natalie Henderson.

     Kendall Siebels, Kaden McAtee and Logan Moestchen were part of the Poultry Team. The team received a bronze rating.

     The last team Monticello brought to compete was the Display Team. The team included Reagan Schneiter, Brea Stahlberg and Courtney Thies. The team received a silver rating.

     The two selected delegates from the Monticello FFA Chapter were Owen Thomas and Lydia Recker.
