The Jones Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners want to remind agricultural landowners and producers the sign-up period for state cost share funds to help install structural conservation practices is still open.

Structural practices include grassed waterways, terraces, water and sediment control basins, and grade stabilization structures. Now through harvest is a good time to check fields for any work that may need to be done this fall or spring 2019. Structural conservation practices help reduce soil erosion and improve water quality.

Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) technicians are available to provide technical support, design and layout of conservation practices. Approved applicants can receive up to 50 percent cost share for eligible expenses.

To learn more, stop by the Jones Soil and Water Conservation District office to schedule a field visit or call the office to get more information. The Jones Soil and Water Conservation District is co-located with NRCS in the USDA Building at 300 Chamber Drive, Anamosa or call 319-462-3196, ext. 3.
