F&M Bank takes home ‘coolest’ award, six years in a row

     Creating a culture where the best employees want to work is what helps F&M Bank attract and retain top talent.      Nate Dunn, president and CEO said, “It’s gratifying to see F&M Bank listed as a Coolest Place to Work year after year. We promote a “team first” mentality and based on the feedback from our employees, we believe we’ve accomplished just that.”

     This belief is integrated throughout the leadership team. Senior leaders support and expect all team members to receive coaching from their managers in order to promote success. Regular coaching allows the team to take responsibility for their own actions, contribute to their own development, discuss learning experiences, offer constructive and motivating feedback, and most importantly, feel appreciated for their contributions.

     Deann McDonald, executive vice president Human Relations, works hard throughout the year to understand what current and potential team members want and expect from their workplace.

     “When team members come to us with a specific need or a way for us to improve, we do our best to make it happen,” stated McDonald.

     F&M Bank recognizes that while work is a big part of our lives, it is also imperative that when an F&M team member goes home, they are able to focus on what is most important to them.

     “We all have numerous commitments outside of the bank with family and personal interests; we want our team members enjoying their personal lives as much as they are developing their professional lives,” said McDonald.

     When a person’s work life and personal life are balanced, it ultimately has a positive impact on their performance at work.

     F&M is a family owned bank and the importance of family resonates throughout the culture.
