Four Oaks closes Monticello program

After operating in Monticello since 1980, Four Oaks has closed its program known as John McDonald Residential Treatment (JMRT), which provided foster group care for girls with emotional, behavioral, and mental health conditions.

“The landscape of the human services business is changing with more services being provided in the community rather than treatment facilities,” said Anne Gruenewald, Four Oaks president and CEO. “This shift keeps youth closer to their families, communities, and home school, allowing them to maintain necessary consistency in their lives. Unfortunately, the shift resulted in the very difficult decision for Four Oaks to close its program in Monticello.”

The youth placed as the site at the time of the closure have been moved to another Four Oaks facility or were ready to return to their homes. All staff were retained and transferred to other positions within Four Oaks.

“We have enjoyed a long and beneficial partnership with the Monticello community,” Gruenewald said. “We thank the community for its support over the past many years.”
