Free training offered on Emergency Volunteer Center

Do you want to learn how you can help during a disaster? Do you have a desire to help people in need?

Attend Jones County’s Emergency Response Center basic training to learn how establishing an Emergency Volunteer Center can help your community during a disaster. There are two opportunities to get involved:

     • Tuesday, April 25, from 1-3 p.m.

     • Tuesday, April 25, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Both trainings will be held in the Community Room inside the Jones County Courthouse, in the lower level, 500 W. Main St., in Anamosa.

The session prepares you to help staff an Emergency Volunteer Center. In the event of a disaster, you will be able to help register and assign spontaneous volunteers to the greatest need.

This will be an interactive Emergency Volunteer Center exercise, where participants experience the EVC model and practice managing spontaneous volunteers.

The training is free to attend. Pre-registration is required. To register, contact Amy Keltner at 319-560-0811 or Amy.Keltner@uweci.org.

This training is co-hosted by the Jones County Volunteer Center and Jones County Emergency Management.
