Frigid temperatures didn’t stop blood donors

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor and Community of Monticello,

Thank you to the Monticello community for their overwhelming response to the Monticello Rotary-sponsored American Red Cross Blood Drive on Jan. 29. Despite the below-freezing temperatures, we collected 107 pints of blood, meeting and exceeding the Red Cross’ goal for us, which was 90 units.

Monticello is a very supportive community and words cannot express how thankful we are to the donors who took time out of their busy schedules to donate. We understand there were longer than usual wait times during this blood drive, and we want to assure you that we are working with the American Red Cross to resolve this issue.

Along with blood donors, we would like to thank everyone who donated cookies, meat and cheese trays, and their time to volunteer at the drive.

Be sure to look for the Monticello Lions Club-sponsored American Red Cross Blood Drive coming up in the near future.

Sincerely,

Leann Herman and Jon Kyte
