Club News

     The Monticello Federated Garden Club met on Nov. 16, 2017 at the Presbyterian Church. Sharon Kell gave a reading by Helen Steiner Rice, One Nation Under God.

     The secretary report was read and approved. The treasurer’s report was given by Rhonda Meyer. A memorial was deposited from Donna Helgens in memory of Cliff. Minutes approved.

     Charlie Becker sent a letter with a picture of the Garden Club. Thanking us again for inviting him to speak about Camp Courageous and the things Garden Club has done for the camp. Especially in helping with plantings when the camp was started.

     The flower gardens at Fountain Park were cleaned out and debris was hauled off by Marilyn Schneiderman, Bobbie and Clyde Meyer. Ruth Zirkelbach cleaned the flowerpots at the fairgrounds. Sharon and Bob Hasler cleaned out the flower boxes behind the Community Center.

     Warren Rieniets presented old minutes and clippings starting in 1937 when his mother Kathleen Rieniets was secretary.

     We discussed what we can bring to the December meeting for the young women at Four Oaks. Suggesions were socks, gloves, games and other small things we think of.

     Marilynn Schneiderman will plan the flower gardens for next year with the input of Ruth Zirkelbach and Marla Walters. They will plan the gardens with some perennials in the center and annuals around. Seconded by Marge Stubbe. Motion carried.

     Our program was taking our food donations to the food pantry. The Conservation pledge was read.

     A delicious lunch was served by Bobbie and Clyde Meyer.

     Our next meeting will be Dec. 14 at Maplewood. Our hosts will be Marilyn Schneiderman and Rhonda Meyer.
