Gary Grant

Gary Grant, 81, of Anamosa, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, with his family at his side.

A Celebration of Life service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. James Frazee officiated. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery, rural Anamosa. Gary Lee Grant was born on April 6, 1944, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of John L. and Hattie M. (Thuman) Grant. He graduated from Anamosa High School in the Class of 1962. He married Lorna J. Remington on Sept. 1, 1963, at First Baptist Church in Anamosa. The couple farmed together in Jones County until 2015, when they moved to Anamosa.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lorna; sons, Gary L.  (Selina) Grant, Jr. of Center Junction, and John L. (Leah) Grant of Center Junction; a grandson, Austin Grant; his sister, Sheryl (Elmer) Nissen of Center Junction; as well as by several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gary was a farmer all his life. He loved his farm dogs, enjoyed tinkering on old cars and tractors, and working with his dad and brother-in-law. He would take on anything that needed to be done on the farm.
