George Matthew Wells

George M. Wells of Monticello passed away peacefully after a brief illness at the age of 64.
George was born to Melvin and Ramona Wells (Allen/Carter) on Sept. 12, 1959. He lived a full life of everything outdoors including mushroom hunting, fishing, camping, all types of river rafting/canoe/boating, gardening, etc.
George worked a multitude of jobs; painting barns, businesses and at Franklin. He also worked for Gee Excavating & Grading before moving on to Wells Grading & Excavating; his own business, doing the same earth moving gig. George also built his own house from the ground up.
Among living a hard life, George raised three kids, Tara (Joseph Berg), Alisha (Ed Coverdill) and Zachary (Sasha Wells). He was blessed by these three with six grandchildren. Survivors also include a brother, Michael Wells of Monticello; and sisters, Melinda Owen of Alabama and Debbie Wells of Monticello. George was preceded in death by his dad, mom, sister and nephew. George will be laid to rest next to his family in Monticello at Oakwood Cemetery Saturday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. Memorial service is open to the public.
