GJCF tabs ATV Big Air Tour to replace races

   It bills itself as a “high energy, action-packed motorsports show.”

   It’s the ATV Big Air Tour, which is coming to the Great Jones County Fair this summer.

   It will be held the Saturday of the fair, July 19, replacing the traditional auto racing program that was discontinued.

   The event will begin at noon, and admission is free.

   “We did some research, and took our time to find something that would fall in place, with that same kind of excitement; something on the track,” said Abby Jaeger, Office Manager for the GJCF,

   According to the tour’s media guide, the event features “heart-pounding stunts, massive jumps, and the jaw-dropping ATV backflip, performed by some of the world’s best riders.”

   The show, it added, “delivers non-stop action with revving 450cc engines, interactive crowd games, music, and free giveaways, including motocross goggles and signed jerseys.”

   The program will be held on the track at the fairgrounds, in the area approaching turn one. Spectators can sit in the bleacher seats to the south of the grandstand, or on the grassy hill nearby, which is mostly shaded.

   “We obviously have a great facility for it,” Jaeger said. “The track is ideal for something like this. It’s entertaining, it’s family-oriented, and it’s something that the old and young would both like.

   “There are a lot of companies that have different types of things like this. So Lucas (Gobeli, Fair Manager) worked with different agencies to help us figure out what this could look like.”

   After the show, spectators will get the chance to meet the riders, grab an autograph and snap a selfie.

   ATV Big Air Tour brings its own jumps, an emcee, an inflatable arch, a public address system, and more.

   “It’s their own complete setup,” Jaeger noted. “They do this a lot, so it’s well-run. I’m super excited.”
