Gloria Ann Dirks May 21, 1935 – Nov. 6, 2017

Gloria A. Dirks, 82, of Cedar Rapids formerly of Monticello passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 at Heritage Nursing and Rehab following a brief illness.

Gloria Ann was born May 21, 1935 in Monticello, the daughter of John and Helen Rolf Darrow.  She graduated from Monticello High School. After high school she worked at the Button Factory in Monticello.  On Dec 17, 1955 she married Lester Dirks in Anamosa. To this union, they had two sons Wade and Derrick. Gloria worked for the Great Jones County Fair and as a housekeeper at the Monticello Nursing home.

She is survived by her two sons, Wade and Derrick (Darcy) Dirks of Hopkinton, two grandchildren David (Heather Taylor) Dirks, Monticello, Amanda (Derek Maples) Dirks of Cedar Rapids, great-granddaughters Abigail and Emily. Sister Donna Soper and John (Lynn) Darrow of Cedar Rapids.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lester in 2009, her parents, her stepfather Edward Hoyer and a sister Pam Lux.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
