Gov. Reynolds wasn’t listening to real stakeholders
To the Editor:
Governor Kim Reynolds made a big point of saying she was going to “listen carefully to all the stakeholders” before making a decision on HF 639. With her decision to veto this bill, it’s obvious she wasn’t listening to the real stakeholders in this matter: the landowners that have been cajoled, bullied, and threatened to surrender their property rights.
On this, as with so many other matters, Reynolds answers to her political paymasters, not to the overwhelming number of Iowans who clearly oppose these CO2 pipelines.
Reynolds’ decision not to seek reelection is a wise one. After what she’s done to our state, she wouldn’t stand a chance.
Unfortunately, when you follow the money, Reynolds isn’t the only elected official who worries more about lining her pockets than listening to Iowans. Senator Mike Bousselot has single-handedly stopped or weakened bills that would protect property rights, rural communities’ safety, and the land and water from CO2 pipelines. Now he has an exploratory committee to run for governor.
In this upcoming election, remember to follow the money.
