The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) presented Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa with its “Guardian of Small Business” award for his outstanding support of America’s small business owners. The “Guardian of Small Business” is the NFIB’s most prestigious award. It is reserved for lawmakers who vote consistently in support of small business.

“Small business is the backbone of America’s economy, making up nearly 50 percent of our nation’s workforce,” Grassley said. “Last year, my Republican colleagues and I passed comprehensive tax reform. I am glad to hear from the small business community that those commonsense changes continue to produce real, positive results in Iowa and nationwide, such as lower unemployment, wage increases and tax savings. It’s an honor to serve as Iowa’s senior senator and support pro-growth policies that enable Iowans to succeed.”

The NFIB represents 325,000 small businesses in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., from every industry and sector whose mission is established by the members directly, not by executive staff or the Board of Directors. According to the NFIB, its mission is to defend the right of small business owners to run their businesses without undue government interference and to advance public policies that promote their success.

“The NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award is presented to Senators who truly vote as champions of small business,” said NFIB President and CEO Juanita D. Duggan. “Those who earn this recognition have been staunch supporters on the issues that are crucial to the success of small businesses, like making tax relief for small businesses a reality. Guardians of Small Business are the lawmakers small business owners can count on as advocates in Washington, and we’re proud to recognize Senator Grassley with the award he has earned during the 115th Congress.”
