Hawkeye great Long to speak, sign at event

     Former Iowa Hawkeye football star Chuck Long will speak and sign book copies during an event set for Tuesday, May 14 at Durgin Pavilion, Camp Courageous in Monticello.

     The event will begin with social time from 5 to 5:30 p.m., a welcome from 5:30 to 5:45 p.m., and a meal from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m.         

     Long, who was quarterback of the Iowa team that won the 1985 Big Ten championship and played in the 1986 Rose Bowl, will speak from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m., and participate in a book sale and signing from 7:15 to 8 p.m. The book, “Destined for Greatness: The Story of Chuck Long and Resurgence of Iowa Hawkeye Football,” was authored by Aaron Putze.

     Cost is $10, which includes the meal. Long-autographed books are $30 each for hardcover, $20 each for paperback. Those attending can also get a photo taken with Long for a suggested donation of $5.
