Hein announces run for Jones Co. Auditor

     Whitney Hein of rural Monticello has announced her candidacy for Jones County Auditor.

     Hein, along with her husband Ben and daughter Lainey live on the family farm and have a passion for being very involved with the community. Hein serves on the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church Council and has been involved with the Jones County Extension 4-H Clover Kids program. Both Hein and her husband are involved with the Iowa Cattlemen Association, Iowa Pork Producers, and Farm Bureau. Ben is also on the Monticello Fire Department and Monticello Ambulance Service as an EMT.

     Currently, Hein works for TriOak Foods as a field manager. She manages 60,000 hog spaces and works with all aspects of the business from logistics, health management, and marketing.

     Hein graduated from Iowa State University in 2013 with a degree in agricultural business and animal science.

     “The job of a county auditor requires an individual to have a very diverse set of skills and a person that can manage many tasks at any one time,” said Hein. “I believe that this job is a good fit for me and I will be able to do it well.”

     As auditor, Hein vows to keep a balanced budget, be transparent about county finances to the public, and report election results timely and accurately.

     The Primary Election will take place on June 2, 2020.
