Two suspects convicted of robbing Citizens State Bank in Hopkinton on Oct. 21, 2016 were sentenced on Feb. 22 to federal prison.

Daniel L. Jackson, 28, of Muscatine, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids to 15 years in prison. Jason Centeno, 22, also of Muscatine, was sentenced to 11 years.

The two drove from Muscatine to the Hopkinton bank in 2016. Centeno used a .38-caliber revolver as he pointed it at the teller demanding cash. Jackson carried a knife and restrained another teller with zip ties. A third bank employee, who entered the bank during the altercation, was also restrained.

The two fled the scene with more than $8,000. No injuries were reported.

Both Jackson and Centeno returned to Muscatine and then left the state for New York, reportedly where both suspects lived at one time. They were eventually arrested in Florida in late October 2016.

Jackson was convicted of armed bank robbery, conspiracy to commit armed bank robbery, aiding and abetting the use of a firearm during a violent crime, and conspiracy to use a firearm during a crime. Centeno ended up pleading guilty to armed bank robbery and using a firearm during a violent crime.

Each was ordered to pay $8,225 in restitution.
