Overnight between Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, Keleher’s Jewelry in Monticello was broken into.

Owner Tom Keleher shared on social media that the culprits broke into the front door, smashed the glass jewelry cases, and stole many pieces of jewelry.

The robbery took place almost six years following a devastating downtown fire on Nov. 28, prior to Keleher’s move from E. First Street to S. Main Street.

Keleher’s is offering a $1,000 reward for an arrest. Any one with information can share anonymously through Text2Tell. Simply text “Jones” to CRIMES (274637). You can also contact the Monticello Police Department at 319-465-3526.

The MPD is also asking the public to help locate or identify the owner of a vehicle believed to be a 2000s Oldsmobile Intrigue. The vehicle has damage to the right rear fender/bumper.

Following the break-in, Keleher’s remained closed for business on Saturday, but opened on Sunday for holiday shoppers.
