JCCF provides opportunities for non-profits

     Non-profits are a critical part of a community’s fabric, providing essential services that governments lack the capacity to deliver and building support for systemic change. Yet non-profits often carry out their work with limited resources, which can prevent them from having the impact they strive for.

     Jones County Community Foundation (JCCF) is passionate about strengthening the non-profits in our area, and thus strengthening our communities as a whole. That’s why, thanks to our affiliation with the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, we’re offering many opportunities for non-profits to raise needed dollars and improve operations.

     Registration opened on Feb. 4 for Great Give Day. This is a 24-hour, online giving day established by the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque to celebrate and support area non-profits and build stronger communities. Since 2014, Great Give Day has raised more than $1.5 million for non-profits across the region. Last year, the campaign collected over 2,500 gifts, attracted 562 first-time donors, and raised over $230,000 for local non-profits.

     Non-profits who hold funds at JCCF are able to register for Great Give Day. The event will be held on Thursday, May 4. The Community Foundation provides a variety of tools and trainings to help non-profits be successful on Great Give Day. A kickoff meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14, and a special training on using social media to maximize the impact of Great Give Day efforts is scheduled on Thursday, March 14.

     The Non-profit Strength Builder workshop launches on Tuesday, Feb. 26. This six-session series is designed for non-profit professionals and board members of all experience levels to enhance their capacity to deliver on their organizations’ missions. Participants will learn from industry experts and will become part of a peer-learning cohort, collaborating and learning from one another throughout the series and developing a lasting network of colleagues.

     Registration is now open for the full series of individual workshops. All sessions will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Community Foundation’s McCarthy Center for Non-profit Learning in Dubuque. Each workshop will focus on building leadership capacity in a different area of non-profit operations: Leadership (Feb. 26), Governance (March 19), Vision & Strategic Planning (April 2), Operations & Data (April 30), Finances & Budgeting (May 14), and Revenue & Fundraising (June 4).
