Jones Co. 9.12 sponsors Islam speaker

     Dr. Stephen M. Kirby will be coming to Monticello on Sunday, June 3 for an afternoon educational presentation called “Understanding Islam.” Dr. Kirby attended the University of Virginia where he earned a PhD in Foreign Affairs, with an emphasis in Soviet Foreign Policy.

     Dr. Kirby retired after spending over 31 years in law enforcement, most of that time with the Los Angeles Police Department. During the latter half of his law enforcement career he specialized in the investigation of white-collar crimes and public corruption. While investigating crimes was his main responsibility, he was also an instructor in LAPD’s Detective School and later taught courses on public corruption investigation to new district attorney investigators.

     He had been a repeat guest talking about Islam on a number of Des Moines radio programs, made presentations, and has spoken at seminars on Islam to organizations in Iowa and Nebraska. Dr. Kirby is the author of five books and numerous articles, book reviews and brochures about Islam. His books will be available at the presentation. Find more on his website IslamSeries.org.

     The presentation will be held at the Monticello Eagles Club, 102 Linder Ct., on the afternoon of June 3 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. It is being sponsored by the Jones County 9.12 Group, is free, and open to the public.
