Jones County dominates to win State division

SPECIAL OLYMPICS SOFTBALL

     With a pair of lopsided victories, the Jones County softball team won its division of the Special Olympics State Team Softball Tournament Saturday, Aug. 4.

     The event was held at the Prairie Ridge Sports Complex in Ankeny.

     Jones County outscored its two opponents by a total of 33-5, beating Sioux City 17-3 in the opening game, and defeating Clinton 16-2 in the championship game.

     Team members include Dan Bodkin, Abby Feldmann, Lori Feldmann, Jacque Fowler, Jeremiah Grams, Kayla Gronewold, Jeff Guilford, Miles Hatchel, Billy Hughes, Chris King, Brad Linder, Ron Pfeiffer, Daniel Ruttan and Dylan Welter.

     The team is coached by Josh Brenneman, assisted by Tom Gronewold and Teri Gronewold. Sharon Grams is the team’s delegation manager.
