Jones County non-profits awarded Theisen’s grants

Theisen’s Home•Farm•Auto announces that 242 non-profits in 24 Theisen’s store communities have received a total of $350,000 in awards through the company’s 2019 More for Your Community grant program.

Successful grant applicants demonstrated that their projects would serve basic needs, such as shelter and education; be matched strongly with local funds; and provide opportunities for those impacted to give back to the community.

In Jones County, successful grant applicants included the Cedar/Jones Early Childhood Iowa, the City of Monticello Public Library, the City of Wyoming Public Library, Horizons, A Family Service Alliance, Iowa State Extension and Outreach Jones County, the Jones County Family Council, Jones County Public Health, Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa, Lutheran Services in Iowa, Mike’s Kids, the Olin Food Pantry, the Riverview Center, Sacred Heart School, and the Wyoming Methodist Church.

“Theisen’s is providing a great opportunity for local non-profits to support their communities. This is a true partnership in every sense of the word and how Theisen’s demonstrates giving back to their communities is phenomenal dedication to supporting the people they serve,” said Sherri Hunt, Jones County Community Foundation coordinator.

The Theisen’s More for Your Community corporate giving program is a partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, who administers the grant program.

Celebrating its 11th year, the Theisen’s More for Your Community grant program has given away more than $2.5 million to support local nonprofits and the people they serve. Based on estimates in non-profit grant applications, this year’s grants are expected to impact more than 550,000 community members.

“With this year’s grants of $350,000, we are simply giving back to our community and the people we serve,” said co-owner Jim Theisen. “We are so proud to support these organizations as they provide food, shelter, healthcare, safety and education to children and families in and near our store communities.”
