Julie Ann (Alden) Meineke Aug. 12, 1962-Aug. 13, 2017

     Julie Ann (Alden) Meineke, age 55, of Monticello, passed away at her home Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017.

     Funeral services will be held 10:30 Wednesday morning, Aug. 16, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church, Monticello. Rev. Emory Gillespie will officiate at the services.

     Julie was born Aug. 12, 1962 to Jerald and Helen (Potter) Alden; she was the fifth of seven children. She graduated from Midland High School in 1981. She worked for Polo Plastics in Monticello for many years and went on to work at various other places before earning her CNA; she worked at the Anamosa Care Center for 14 years.

     Julie married Duane Meineke on March 28, 1987; they were married 18 years and had two children together.

     Julie was caring and hard working. She had a big heart and a smile that could brighten an entire room. Julie loved animals, especially dogs and her cat Cookie. She also loved reading, horseback riding, listening to classic rock, and spending time with her family.

     Julie is survived by her son Nicholas Meineke of Monticello; daughter Sarah Bracht-Wagner of Mason City; mother Helen Alden of Monticello; brother John Alden of Lost Nation; brother Joe Alden of Monticello; sister Jamie (Dave) Soper of Wyoming; sister Cheryl (Russ) Recker of Alburnett; and several nieces and nephews. Julie was preceded in death by her father Jerald Alden, brother Charles Alden, and sister Junella Lange.
