July 4 includes Firemen’s Breakfast, fireworks

Despite the postponement of the Monticello Fourth of July Parade this year, the Monticello Fire Department is prepared to serve a huge crowd again at their annual Firemen’s Breakfast on Saturday, July 4.

The breakfast will be held inside the Monticello Berndes Center, serving from 6:30-10:30 a.m. There will be two serving lines for those who choose to dine-in to keep people moving. Seating will be spread out to respect social distancing guidelines. Households are asked to sit together.

New this year will be a drive-thru/carry-out option. The drive-thru starts at the north gate of the fairgrounds, around the Citizens State Bank Youth Development Center.

The Firemen’s Breakfast is one of the MPD’s biggest fundraisers of the year. Department members and volunteers will be wearing PPE for everyone’s safety.

Then, to close out of the holiday, fireworks will go off at dusk, also at the fairgrounds in Monticello. Bring your family, lawn chairs, or cars and spread out around the grounds to see a fantastic fireworks show!
