JV falls to Cascade, beats NC

BOYS BASKETBALL RECAP

Junior varsity

     Monticello played a pair of junior varsity boys basketball games against River Valley Conference opponents last week, winning one.

     The Panthers (11-3) played host to Cascade Jan. 20, and lost 41-29. Caleb Sauser led Monticello in scoring with nine points, and had three rebounds, three steals and two assists. Jasper Nietert had six points and four rebounds. Ian Temple scored six points and had two rebounds. Grahm Schneiter had five points and two rebounds. Trey Kuper had three points, three rebounds and two steals. Eian Weber had two rebounds.

     On Jan. 21, the Panthers got back in the win column with a 45-30 home triumph over North Cedar. Schneiter had 16 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Sauser had 11 points, six steals, five assists and four rebounds. Temple had six points. Nietert had four points and five rebounds. Kuper had four points and two assists. Gage Guilford and Kaden Finn each had two points and four rebounds.

 

Eighth-grade

     Preston Ries scored 38 points and the Monticello eighth-grade boys basketball team opened its season with a 59-38 home win over North Cedar Jan. 23.

     Also scoring for the Panthers were Easton Prull with eight points, Conner Jordan with five, and Carson Cox, Cael Sampson, Peyton Schilling and Zach Yates with two points apiece.
