JV Panthers close out season

VOLLEYBALL RECAP

Junior varsity

   Two matches closed the season for the Monticello junior varsity volleyball team.

   On Sept. 29, the Panthers played host to Maquoketa, and won in three sets, 25-10, 25-27, 15-8. Mya Hansen had 19 assists and nine digs. Gabi Barnhart had six kills and six digs. Kinzi Schlarmann had eight digs and three aces. Aleasha Schilling had seven digs, three kills and two blocks. Reagan Schneiter had four kills and five aces. Hailey Henderson had four kills. Bella Mullen had three kills and two blocks. Kendra Jacobs had two digs. Raegan LaGrange and Olivia Zimmerman had one kill each.

   Monticello wrapped up the season with a match at Northeast of Goose Lake Oct. 6. The Panthers lost the first set 20-25, but rallied to win 25-17, 15-7 to take the match. Hansen had 14 assists and seven digs. Schneiter had six kills, six aces and four digs. Barnhart had seven digs and three kills. Schilling had five kills and two digs. Schlarmann had six digs. Mullen had five digs and two aces. Henderson had two kills and two digs. Zimmerman and Jacobs had two digs apiece. LaGrange had one kill.

   The Panthers finished the season with a 9-4 record under head coach Andrea Bone.

 

Eighth-grade team

   Results are available for two additional Monticello eighth-grade volleyball date from this past season.

   At Dyersville Beckman Sept. 20, the Panthers lost the A match in three sets, 5-21, 9-21, 10-15. Avery Jurgens had four digs. Addison Norton served 3-for-4 and had three digs and two assists. Kayla Shady had three digs. Brynn Schmit had two digs. Greta Cooper and Stella McDermott had one kill apiece, and Emma Kromminga had one dig.

   In the B match, Monticello lost four sets, 5-15, 5-15, 7-15, 8-15. Laila Atkinson had six digs and served 3-for-3. Jessica Kracke served 5-for-5. Macey Burlage served 3-for-4, Kaedence Etringer served 2-for-2, and Meghan Besler served 2-for-3.

   On Sept. 22, Montiello played host to Camanche. The A team lost 19-21, 10-21, 12-15. Norton had eight assists and five aces. Shady had served 6-for-7 with four aces, and had three digs and two kills. McDermott had three kills. Kromminga had four digs. Cooper had two kills and two digs. Also getting two digs apiece were Peyton Ries, Schmit and Jurgens.

   The B team won two of five sets, winning 15-3, 15-8 before falling 9-15, 12-15, 7-15. Atkinson served 12-for-12 with eight aces. Aubrey Lasack served 7-for-8 with four aces. Lena Lippstock served 4-for-5 with three aces. Marissa Speltz served 4-for-4 with two aces. Etringer served 4-for-5 with two aces. Emee Himes-Luensman had two digs. Allisen Capron served 1-for-2 with one ace.
