JV plays two

     Monticello’s junior varsity softball team faced a pair of River Valley Conference opponents in recent games.

     On May 29, the Panthers played a single game at Wilton, and lost 7-6. The Beavers scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 7-4 lead. Tori McDonald batted 2-for-3 with a double. DeLainy Fellinger and Hayley Manternach also went 2-for-3. Mallory Steiner pitched and took the loss.

     The Panthers then played host to Mid-Prairie May 31, and lost 10-0 in four innings. Monticello had three hits, singles by Steiner, Manternach and McDonald.
