JV pulls away to win opener
GIRLS' BASKETBALL
Monticello outscored Camanche 26-12 in the second half to pull away to a 51-28 junior varsity girls’ basketball victory Nov. 20 at Camanche.
Karli Recker scored 15 points in just two quarters of play as the Panthers (1-0) won their season opener. Beka Prull had eight points and eight rebounds in two quarters. Bronwyn Hodge had eight points and six rebounds. Mallory Steiner had seven points. Lainy Fellinger had five points and four steals.
Also scoring were Piper Hansen and Kylee Van Dorn with three points apiece, and Emma Hynick with two.
“Balanced scoring and running the floor were keys to the victory,” Monticello coach Chuck Welsch said. “We also tightened up the defense in the second half.”
