JV rallies to tip Cascade

GIRLS BASKETBALL

     Monticello overcame an early 13-6 deficit, grabbed a second half lead, and held on to defeat Cascade 32-29 Feb. 1 in Monticello.

     The Panthers started their rally late in the first half. Bronwyn Hodge made a short shot with four seconds to play in the half, and then Rebekah Prull stole the ball and scored at the buzzer to pull Monticello to within two, 13-11, at halftime.

     Two big free throws in the final five seconds, one by Lydia Recker and one by DeLainy Fellinger, enabled the Panthers to hold on.

     Prull finished with 13 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Hodge had eight points and six rebounds. Recker had five points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Fellinger had one point and six rebounds. Mallory Steiner scored three points, and Elise Kehoe had two.

     Monticello remained undefeated, at 16-0, with two days left.
