Kathryn (Kay) Clark

      Kathryn (Kay) Clark, age 91, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021 at Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. Private family services will be held at graveside in Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello. Goettsch Funeral Home has taken Kay and her family into their care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

      Surviving are four children, Bruce (Mary Beth) Clark, and Barb Clark all of Monticello, Jana Brashaw of Tyler, Texas, Paul (Mary) Clark of Poplar Grove, Ill., 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, her sister Jean Melton of Independence, Mo., and a sister-in-law, Helen Bender of San Diego, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles in 1984, a grandson Stephen Ferradino, four brothers, Charles, Paul, Ralph and James Bender, and four sisters, Mary Holscher, Ruth Burris, Fern Fry and Esther Heerts.

      Kathryn Imogene Bender was born March 24, 1929 at Monticello, Iowa. She was the daughter of James C. and Edith Schneider, Bender. Kay graduated from Monticello Community Schools in 1947. She worked at Northwestern Bell as a telephone operator. Kay married Charles Allen Clark on Feb. 17, 1949 at the Presbyterian Manse in Monticello. The couple operated the Monticello Machine Shop until selling it to their son Bruce. Kay later worked at the Monticello Senior Home as an aide for many years. She enjoyed needle point, and ceramics. She loved to cook and bake. Her cinnamon rolls were the best. Kay loved watching all sports, especially the Hawkeyes. She always enjoyed time spent with her family, especially the great-grandchildren.
