Keith Dirks Memorial Scholarship award winner announced

     Four  $500 Keith Dirks Memorial scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors from a Jones County high school who has indicated an interest in pursuing a post-secondary degree or certificate relating to science, technology, math or engineering and is a Jones County resident.

     This year’s winner from Monticello High School is Kacie Bayne. Kacie  plans to attend the University of Wisconsin, Platteville for a career in engineering.

     Keith Dirks graduated from Anamosa High School in 1974. He attended college at Cornell and Kirkwood. Keith served as a county Supervisor for Jones County for 19 years until his death. Keith was very active on the Jones County Conservation Board, working to get the Nature Center built at Central Park  as well as other improvements to park.
