The History

Music Mission Kiev’s story began 25 years ago with an invitation by music director Roger McMurrin to come to Kiev, Ukraine and conduct “Handel’s Messiah.”

The trip turned into a ministry that uses music’s sacred classics to introduce the gospel to people in Ukraine. As needs became known, the mission grew to include church planting, discipleship, orphan and widow care, serving victims of war, and more.

McMurrin attended Monticello High School his junior and senior years. On the 1998 tour, he wanted to introduce Ukrainians to small town America with a tour stop in Monticello. The tour has stopped several times in Monticello since.

The Music

The message is powerfully presented in music form by world-renown professionals. They perform sacred masterpieces and classical music, once banned behind the Iron Curtain. Scripture is made known to many through song.

The Message

KSOC was founded to bring a message, the Gospel, that was forbidden under 70 years of Communist rule. Beyond its Ukraine borders, it spreads this message to former Soviet countries and around the world.

The Mission

To broaden outreach beyond musicians and audiences, Music Mission Kiev was established. It serves widows, orphans, victims of war, and the wider Kiev community through programs and institutions of evangelism, discipleship, church plants, music lessons and life necessities.
